Bill Gates criticizes Trump’s decision
After US President Donald Trump made the announcement of US halting it’s WHO (World Health Organization) funding in light of how they handled this current coronavirus outbreak, Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft made a criticizing comment saying, “it is as dangerous as it sounds”.
In his tweet, Gates says on Wednesday morning, “Haling World Health Organization’s funding during an ongoing world health crisis is as dangerous as it sounds. The work by them is what is slowing the spread of the COVID-19. If their works comes to a halt, there will no other organization as their replacement. The world now more than ever needs @WHO.”
Bill Gates with a net worth of 104 billion dollars is currently focusing his energy entirely on the responses of Public Health. Bill Gates announcement in March was about him stepping down from his seat of Microsoft’s Board of Directors and the Berkshire Hathaway for focusing entirely on philanthropic works.
Back in February, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation spent about 100 million for organizations helping to fight against coronavirus. 20 million dollars of this 100 million was given to groups like WHO and CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention).
Bill gates said earlier in April that this current viral pandemic is a nightmare like scenario. Still, he said that maintaining social distancing along with strong national response can keep the casualties at low count. At that time, US was already projecting deaths to be in 100000 to 250000 due to COVID-19 before bringing it under control.
